I built multiple bases and basically built everything in the game to test and play around with things. if there will even be one.Īs someone on their first playthrough and getting near the end as far as I can tell ( explored alien thermal plant and rocket built), I think what you propose would ONLY work on subsequent playthroughs or as a toggleable difficulty setting prior to starting a new game.įor a new player, it would have been insanely prohibitive if I couldn't go get titanium whenever I needed it. I really wish there was a toggable option somewhere that turns ALL of the resources in the game finite. Even though it is the best power source in the game (quantity-wise) you just saw how useless it is when you have so many alternatives and unlimited of everything (solar power for the solar panels, organic matter for the bioreactor, and undepletable vents for thermal plant). In survival mode I think this would have been a great mechanicĪnd the reason I wrote the text above is because I was indirectly addressing the nuclear reactor issue. You would be forced to grow the necessary plants, and only farm the absolute minimum to survive. That way if you ever wanted to play the game more than once you'd manage your resources better and wouldn't go crazy with building unnecessary equipment / buildings / whatever. I think Subnautica would have been better for subsequent playthroughs if the resources were limited and never spawned.
